This is a little odd... 'make' exits non-zero when doing 'make check' (help-version) on Itanium Linux, but the tests all seem to pass. Here is the relevant verbose output:

...and similarly on HPUX, although the tests pass, 'make check' just *fails*, and in this case I'm not seeing why. I'm attaching the log in case anyone spots something I didn't. (Maybe it's the same problem?)

Same versions of bash and make here (both built from clean sources).

This may indicate a flaw in your kernel or file system implementation.
The flaw isn't serious for coreutils, but it might break other tools,
so you should report it to your operating system vendor.

WARNING: On this system, the built-in echo function of /bin/sh
does not report failure when writing to a full device.
To demonstrate, run this command:

  /bin/sh -c 'echo hello > /dev/full; echo status=$?'

Notice that the failing echo leaves its exit status set to zero
and does not produce a diagnostic.

That bug in /bin/sh would cause the test of the groups
scripts to fail, so it is being removed from the list of
programs checked by this test.
