Sorry, I can't parse that.
And I can't find anything relevant after wading through the spam at
<http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2005-02/threads.html>
(perhaps because the discussion hasn't been archived yet).
Could you please elaborate a bit, perhaps with a URL or two?

But given that almost nobody uses coreutils "su", I'm not sure that
newgrp belongs in coreutils.  They are related commands.  It might
make more sense to decommission coreutils 'su'.
