I responded to something in the Debian bug system concerning large
file support which I guess didn't get passed on as it's not in the
snapshot and it's probably more relevant outside Debian. See the end
of <URL:http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=296870> for a
configure fix/simplification.
(I assume the widely-used autoconf test is right, but if not, it
should be fixed.)
