I agree with Joel that we should keep the gzip version around
for a while, at least until the xz folks get around to
writing an Internet RFC for the format and so forth.
It's not just a matter of distribution; it's also
a matter of archiving. 100 years from now, I expect
there will still be gzip readers, but I'm not as sure there
will be xz-as-of-2011 readers.
