Going to the Bison CVS without a native guide is too much a
challenge. I have downloaded the bison tar ball and extracted
the files. I was able to add the patches Juan Manuel Guerrero
found for the v 1.875 release. However the configure script
failed after creating "config.status."

cd . && C:/djg/bin/sh.exe ./config.status config.h
./config.status: line 731: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
./config.status: line 731: `abs_builddir='../../.''

This is very much like the error encountered with the linked
files in the gmp package but I have found no way around it.

Importing and patching the Makefile from the v 1.875 release
did not solve the problem. The makefile reads config.status
too and encountered the same syntax error.

Going back a step farther and attempting autoreconf failed
because it did not like your AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR([MP4]).

configure.ac:25: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR
If this token and others are legitimate, please use
m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.
autoreconf: /dev/env/DJDIR/bin/autoconf failed with exit status: 1

I ran autoscan which produced a list of undoubtedly useful
suggestions for configure.ac but was silent on AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR
While I would like to learn to use these tools efficiently I
prefer to do it with a project less complex than bison.

Juan Manuel Guerrero has requested a copy of the TestSuites.
Concattenated and gzipped the file "Test-PKG.gz" is about 34K
which is not a bad size for an e-mail attachment.

Regards,
Frank
