OS: darwin17.7.0
Compiler: /usr/bin/clang
Compilation CFLAGS: -pipe -Os -DSSH_SOURCE_BASHRC -arch x86_64
uname output: Darwin imac11.local 17.7.0 Darwin Kernel Version 17.7.0: Fri Oct

Machine Type: x86_64-apple-darwin17.7.0
Bash Version: 5.1
Patch Level: 8
Release Status: release
Description:
As described earlier, bash 5.1-- but incidentally, not bash 5.0
or earlier versions-- echoes error and status messages to an
xterm on iOS that is connected via ssh to a Mac OS 10.13.6 in
the Greek alphabet and language.
Repeat-By:
e.g., ssh on an iOS to a Mac with a bash 5.1 login shell and
type, for example, "exir" for "exit". The "unrecognized
command" error message will appear in Greek.
Fix:
I was able to eliminate the problematic behavior by putting
'export LC_ALL="en_US"' into my .profile. The new locale
replaced the default value "C".
