Hi everybody,
i use auctex 11.84 with emacs 22.1 on a Debian Etch system.
Put the following text in your emacs buffer, set fill-column to 100 and
activate longlines mode by M-x longlines-mode:
\documentclass[12pt, titlepage]{article}
\pdfoutput=1
\usepackage{ucs}\usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc}
\begin{document}
Hallo
%Our goal is to perform a calculation which achieves $|\psi^{A,
B}(x)-\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)| \le |\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)|$ and
$|\psi^{A, B}(x)-\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)| \le abserr$ for some positiv
real number abserr, where $\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)$ denotes the
calculated value. The first condition guarantees $\psi^{A, B}(x)< 0$ if and
only if $\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)< 0$ and we can see that in the case
$\psi^{A, B}(x)= 0$ it's impossible to meet. As we will see, under some
additional restrictions which are no real restrictions, we are able to
perform a calculation which meets $|\psi^{A, B}(x)-\widetilde{\psi^{A,
B}}(x)| \le abserr$ for some positiv real number abserr and therefore in the
case $\psi^{A, B}(x) \not= 0$ it's also possible to meet $|\psi^{A,
B}(x)-\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)| \le |\widetilde{\psi^{A, B}}(x)|$, we just
have to decrease $abserr$ until $abserr \le \frac{1}{2}|\psi^{A, B}(x)|$.
Hallo, i'm colored brown, allthough i'm just normal text!!
\end{document}
On my system only the first "line" appears in red and all the others normal,
but with math mode and normal text mode changed, because there is one "$" in
the first "line" which should indicate beginning math mode, this "$" is
missing in the rest of the (long) line which causes font-lock-mode to change
colors and to color the following lines in brown.
The behaviour is somehow indetermined because in the example above i have to
edit the last line to get it colored brown, in my (bigger) file all the
following text is colored brown directly after activating longlines mode.
I think it's clear which behauviour is expected instead.
Thank you for considering my request,
Georg
