Phasing out Bibledit-Gtk won't be an easy thing to do, because it's an open source project, and it takes only one programmer to continue to maintain it, and whoever wants can do so. Without phasing out Bibledit-Gtk, current programming efforts are mainly focused on Bibledit-Web so that it is raised to the level of the desktop version in terms of functionality and ease of use. And hopefully if the web edition's functionality keeps improving, the user may prefer it, effectually replacing the desktop version.
