Follow-up Comment #1:

The window manager controls most of the focus and hide / show operations on
the various windows of Bibledit, or more generally, of any program that has
windows. This bug, if it is a bug, could be reported to whatever window
manager that you have.

In the mean time using attached windows could resolve these problems -
however, then you loose, of course, again the flexible window placement that
you now enjoy.
