Follow-up Comment #1:

I have seen this behaviour too in rare cases, but right now do not know what
to do to resolve that. It is related to the communication with the git
subsystem, and something is blocking there. I hope that it does not occur too
often. What also would be possible is to close bibledit by clicking on the
cross at the top-right of the window, then after a while the window manager
will ask you to force-close it.
