Details:

The results of the Check/Passages tool (html in the default brower) display
the verse reference twice (e.g. Genesis 25:1 \v 1):
- as part of the tool '1' (of Genesis 25:1) and
- \v 1

-> Let the verse number show up only once (leave out the the verse marker and
the verse number)
