Follow-up Comment #6:

As far as merging concerns, bibledit uses the program "merge" to do the job.
You can see the program and its documentation when typing:

man merge

in a terminal.

The merge program seems to decide that this is the result it is needing,
based upon a few factors. I do not have options to influence the result as to
what comes in the merged result, and what is left out. It seems to decide this
on its own.
