Details:

Flashing the EEPROM area with avrdude svn-trunk (as of 20.7.2012) fail at the
verfication stage with an error message:

[exec] avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0001
     [exec]          0x01 != 0xff
[exec] avrdude: verification error; content mismatch

Erasing the chip with -e works correctly. Flashing the same hexfile with the
programming tool from AVR Studio6 under windows works fine and gives a working
system (same hardware)

Hardware details: address@hidden (U4DIL board from reworld.eu)
Programmer Model: AVRISP mkII
     [exec] Hardware Version: 1
[exec] Firmware Version Master : 1.17

Attached 4 Hex files:
 usb32-back.eep.hex-original from avrasm,
usb32-back.eep.hex-broken flashed and read back with avrdude
usb32-back.eep.hex-fine flashed with Studion Programmer and read back with
avrdude.

Together with the usb32.hex the working eep file provides a forth system with
a serial terminal at usart1 (38400 8N1) (for testing with the hardware
setup).
