Heh, the last AT90S1200 I had I flashed it well over 100,000 times
before it eventially gave up the ghost. And that was before your PPI
speed up patch - it took several months of continuously flash, erase,
flash, erase ...
It started out as a FLASH durability experiment on a slow Friday
evening. After automating the loop and timing a few cycles, I figured
I'd see a failure by morning based on the data sheet numbers. After a
few weeks of flashing and no failures, it became personal :-) I even
had to pause at around 64,000 to modify AVRDUDE (back then it was
called AVRPROG) mid-way to support a read-write cycle count of more
than 16 bits :-)
