In short: challenge-response protocols suck.  Even 20-year old UUCP
had realized that, and implemented a windowed protocol...  Of course,
with the AT90S1200 of the AVR910, there's no chance to do that, the
device is full anyway.

I'll eventually solder a Q&D AVR910 together some day, and will also
give that a try under FreeBSD (and maybe test it on Solaris as well,
if i get around).
