The FAQ explains that you'd have to make special arrangement to
convince the compiler to generate an 8-bit only instruction sequence,
while the compiler apparently is smart enough now to figure that out
by itself.
It would be cool if someone could find out which minimum compiler
version is needed so we could add that to the FAQ entry.
