No, no, no. The other way around. The PORTxn, DDRxn, and PINxn bit names
need to be defined for the 644p and probably 324p, 164p too. The XML
file for the 644p specifies the PORTxn, DDRxn, and PINxn bit names, but
they are not in the header file. The 1284p header file looks ok.

This was in reference to a phone conversation with Attila Roemer.
