This appears to be a typo, please file a bug report for it.

The ADHSM bit has been deprecated and officially withdrawn for all
AVRs, as it is not needed, and the only effect it was causing was an
increased power consumption.  You might want to file a bug report with
Atmel for this datasheet still mentioning it, that's probably just a
cut'n'paste-o.
