Follow-up Comment #1, task #3693 (project avr-libc):

>From Bob Paddock:

Actually there is no such thing as a ATmega256 now, they changed the
nomenclature yet again, as you can find by searching the net for the
ATmega2561. There are a few variations in package and memory size, per

the public information from the seminar last year.

AVR097: Migration between ATmega128 and ATmega2561 (6 pages, revision A,
updated 11/04)

"ATmega128 and ATmega2561 are designed to be a pin and functionality
compatible sub family. This application note points out the differences to be
aware of when porting code between the devices."

> From other public information on the net, such AVR Studio 4.11 release
notes

we know there is a ATmega2560. We know from AVR097 that the 2561 is a
64-pin

part, it can be deduced from the seminar material that the 2560 is the
100-pin part. The other information has not turned up in what is publicly
available yet.
