You convinced me. ;-)

I'm certainly not going to maintain two releases of the FreeBSD port
of it, so OK, forget about it, it has just been a stupid idea.
Whoever really needs it can pull it as well straight from CVS, as he
has to compile it himself anyway.

As time permits, I might backport severe bugfixes into the 1.0 branch
even while we continue running 1.2-style releases.

I don't have the slightest idea what it would take to build and ship
Linux RPMs.  Supposedly, the infrastructure (package files and stuff)
are already sitting in the tree (avr-libc.spec.in), aren't they?  I do
have access to a Linux devel machine at work, so the phyiscal act of
rolling an RPM and transferring it over to Savannah shouldn't be too
hard if people think that would help anyone.
