[avr-libc-dev] plans to support more recent versions of autoconf/automake?

The reason I ask is that on Mac OSX, the default development versions are
autoconf 2.57, and automake 1.63; and it can be a little cumbersome to also
require older versions of these utilities be simultaneously installed; are
there any plans to update the auto-config/make files to be compatible with
more recent releases of these tools, or possibly include the generated files
in the cvs archive as gnu cvs archives tend to do to?
(and/or, as I and possibly others may have difficulty accessing cvs on
occasion, might it be possible to release pre-configured snapshots of the
current development branch in the download directory with the past releases
as a convenience periodically?)
Thanks, any insight would be appreciated,
