WinAVR (pronounced "whenever") is a suite of open source software
development tools for the Atmel AVR series of RISC microprocessors
for the Windows platform.

WinAVR contains:
1. Binutils 021111 (experimental build from snapshot)
Binary utilities for AVR target (including assembler, linker,
    etc.)

2. GCC 3.3 20021111 (experimental build from snapshot)
C language compiler for AVR target.

3. AVRLibC 20021111 (experimental build from snapshot)
    C Standard Library for AVR.

4. AVRLibC Documentation in HTML, Postscript, and PDF.

5. Many native Win32 GNU programs and utilities.

WinAVR can be found here:

Caveats:

1. This installation is based off of snapshots. These are not
necessarily the final, stable releases. But, they're the latest and
greatest.

2. Right now, this installation is not necessarily for newbies. It is
assumed that the user knows how to write makefiles and run make. It
is assumed that the user knows how to set up the compiler for user
with AVR Studio version 3.x (if you so desire). Hopefully in the
future, this will change.

3. WinAVR will continue to be updated on a semi-regular basis.
Currently GCC 3.3 will be released sometime in December. AVRLibC is
scheduled to release a 1.0 sometime after that. It is hoped that
WinAVR can be released then with a stable toolset.
