RI which is Ring Indicator definitively not. For the rest it depends on your modem. If the modems wants to handle HW handshake you have to provide it. So sorry but RTFM of the modem is necessary.

Does anyone know avr to external modem interface (for dial up internet) ?
Is it enough using three wire connection (Tx , Rx and Ground) ?
Do I have to use RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR and RI ?
