If you're lazy, you could always use Mfile. I guess Tcl/Tk are
readily available in Ubuntu, and that's all you need.
I originally wrote that for WinAVR users, but later on found it to be
useful for all my own small projects as well, so there's now a Unix
Makefile template as well. (This one does not rely on GNU make but is
generic, and it is less verbose than the WinAVR one.)
