I have try with:
   avr-gcc (GCC) 3.4.3
   GNU assembler 2.15

In result:
  ...
  40                    foo:
   1:foo.c         **** int foo (int x)
   2:foo.c         **** {

  ...
  56 0016 9A83                  std Y+2,r25
   3:foo.c         ****     return x+1;
  57                            .stabn 68,0,3,.LM2-foo
  ...

Line 4 (`**** }') is absent. (?)
With avr-gcc 3.3.5 all lines are present.
