[avr-gcc-list] malloc/free uses much more flash memory

Hi all,

the actual malloc/free use a lot more memory in flash. 
One of my project currently fits not in the controller.
The older libc does the work fine.

What´s the advantage of the new malloc/free and
is it possible to use the older (smaller) ones
with a (compiler) switch? Or is this a way into
new trouble?
