[avr-gcc-list] moving from PIC to AVR... |

Hello everybody!
I just reached the limit of what i could do with a PIC in terms of speed, so
i am starting out with the avr and gcc. What i can't seem to find is any
reasonably comprehensive collection of source-code examples. Right now i
need to know a few things like: How do i map an IO register to a variable (i
have a suspicion that i can't...)? How do i test a bit in a variable? a
register? Can i read the ststus register? More specifically, i need a good
routine for bit banged serial IO. Also making lookup tables without using
huge chunks of sram.
The list goes on and on. Help!
thanks,
