FWIW, I don't care much. Go ahead if you like.
FWIW2, it doesn't seem to reduce the naming inconsistency, as
other package use build-aux for the scripts Automake has in lib.
But then again, for the other packages, those scripts are not
primary sources, unlike for Automake.
Please ensure check and maintainer-check still works afterwards.
Autoconf, Libtool, gnulib and maybe others have ways to
fetch files from Automake, e.g., install-sh. I realize
they are broken already, since they have not made the switch
to git yet, thus pull potentially-outdated files from the
old CVS tree.
