I like the idea, but I have a nit: it changes the behavior of
autoreconf if the input looks like this:
ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS =
ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I m4
(I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature. :-)
While we're on the subject, it might be useful to warn or reject if
the flags end in a backslash, since the code doesn't handle that.
