Underpinning this is the idea that long examples should be GPL'd, as
opposed as "are de facto" as of today.  Why should they?
autoconf.texi promotes the best uses, and since autoconf was designed
for everybody, not exclusively GPL users, it is unfair that the best
uses be reserved to a fraction of our users.
