This minus `-r' just caught my eye.
What should be preferred between `cp -R' and `cp -r'?
Automake's lib/am/distdir.am uses `cp -R' and claims `cp -r' to
be "almost always incorrect". This was introduced by
1999-11-08 Tom Tromey <address@hidden>
* automake.in (handle_dist_worker): Use `cp -R', not `cp -r'.
