I think it's the basic Info-follow-nearest-node which doesn't like
dots, ie. in info mode pressing Ret on such an entry fails.
info-look knows it's got an index entry so could do something
specific, but no doubt Info-follow-nearest-node would want to be
improved too.
Info-try-follow-nearest-node seems to claim to have a separate case
for index entries, if the comments are true and that's all that part
is used for then presumably taking the whole rest of the line would be
enough.
