Nah, we agreee it is not fundamental. It is much better to have it,
period. And then again, I shall ask again (because I don't remember
having seen an answer to my previous instance of _the_ question :):
why do we output the configure's LINENO in conftest.c, instead of,
for instance, the current input line.
Of course, one answer is that for instance when Jim write jm_PREREQ_MACROS
it produces a zillion of conftest.c which would all be labelled with
the same configure.ac input line :(
