I veleive this is only true for the autoconf developer who
update its copy of autom4te every minute (i.e. you), but not for
common people.  Also you could move the relevant bits of
Autom4te to a seperate file and only tag this file, to diminish
the amount of revision changes.

The only thing I don't like with $Revision$ is that it
constrains you to use a version control system.

Would their be a mean to *enforce* this update?  Everything
which ends with `by hand' sounds bad to me.  To some extent,
this recalls me the "If you change this, change the 
corresponding list in aclocal.in" comment in automake.in, that 
everybody miss.
