This is what Tim's macro does, and we all agree that's what to be
done.
Time could you submit the patch which (i) includes this AC_PROG_PERL,
(ii), documents it, (iii) uses it for Autoconf's configure.in? Let
the requirement be at least as high as that wanted by Help2man.
