mktests.sh is indeed robust but it wasn't clear to me that it is when I
saw the error message the first time.

The only reason why mktests.sh was run is because I touched all files. I
had to do it because OpenBSD shares the disk with Windows and the system
clock is not in GMT on that machine.

This should not be an issue for most people, especially those in the
Eastern hemisphere :-)

Right. The whole update.at is skipped. Exactly the same result on OpenBSD
2.7. Now it's running with GNU sed. You'll hear from me if it fails.
