I mean, every time configure indicates that something (e.g. Automake) is
not found, there are people who think that things went wrong because of
that. The post angry messages saying how they tried to install Automake,
how it required Perl etc.

In this case, Autoconf would indicate that there is no /bin/universe in
config.log so expect to see people who suspect this to be the root of
their troubles :-)

Probably it was not the best joke if it requires explanation.
