By the way if you get proper .def files and know how to generate .lib using 
cygwin ...
would you mind recording your knowlede at least in Makefile.am
you only need to add it as an explicit make target
somebody than will take the time and fiddle arround with autoconf and 
automake to get the .def and .lib by simply running 
./configure
make
make install
