Dude:
Don´t compile again, it's allready pre-compiled for 6.06.
Just download and sudo dpkg install and apt-get dendencies,
better yet, get 6.10 and just double click the dpkg package to
install and get dependencies automatically.

I had to manually copy a lot of the libraries to /usr/local/lib.

However, I can get a window and can load a set of dicom images
into it. Very nice. I can scroll nicely using the mouse button or
the slider bars. But, if I mouseclick on an image the program
segfaults. If I load it into gdb I get:
