I'm unable to save on a remote linux server while running tramp under cygwin. (Saving on my local machine is fine.)
The problem seems to be that I do not have write rights to /tmp -- nor do I have the permissions necessary to change permissions on /tmp. (And I don't want to deal with my firm's IT bureaucracy. ;)
So I set $TMPDIR -- but that still failed. But:
$ pwd
/u/fbartlet
$ ls -d tmp/
tmp/
$ echo $TMPDIR
/u/fbartlet/tmp/
Looking at the logs, I see:

I was expecting, of course, /u/fbartlet/tmp/tramp.yxl4RI.txt.
Is there any way for me to change the remote tmp directory tramp uses?
