Is "-s flatten" supposed to be "--flatten"?
Be careful with that option- it's still experimental and highly
unstable.

Well, what's the error message due to which it's stopping? Since the
process is running in an exec(), problems with pdf2swf itself shouldn't
influence whether or not the loop breaks.
