Details:

Now that master can open any number of ptys, we really should use function
that handles more than 1024 file descriptors.

Possibly backport to screen-v4, should not break anything there (unless
someone tries to build recent screen versions on museum objects) and someone
can still define big MAXWIN when build v4.
