For Debian/Ubuntu you can use Patrik's repo. Follow instructions at
https://nexus.ikus-soft.com/repository/archive/rdiffweb/2.8.9/doc/installation.html#option-1-debian-ubuntu-repository
to add the Debian/Ubuntu repository.
You can then add Rdiffweb as suggested but you can also add
latest'n'greatest version of rdiff-backup by e.g:
sudo apt install rdiff-backup-2.2
You can run it as rdiff-backup-2.2. If you want to be able to use this
version as the default then change/create a symlink in /usr/bin.
