Got it in one.
I don't think there's an ideal fix, though.
Backing up using the --nocompression option might work,
though obviously at a disk space cost.
I suppose that could be worked around by then manually/script-ally
using a gzip that will work on the increment files.
Considered just having the windows box mount an ext2 fs?
It can be done these days...
I guess this bug should be logged with whoever does gzip.py?
