I had the same problem with Pan 0.14.2 always being stuck on a download  
when I came back to it. My solution was to go back to Pan 0.11.4 which  
seems to work like a charm once you work out how to stop it from  
crashing. Been using it for the past year now. I can give you hints on  
how to keep it stable if you want.
