Follow-up Comment #3, bug #65622 (group octave):

forgot to add, I can reproduce this on some systems but not others.  both an
old laptop and an aging desktop with Intel HD Graphics 4600 works just fine.  
A newer system with both Intel Iris Xe Graphics, driver version 31.0.101.5333
and NVIDIA T550 GPU driver version 30.0.15.1236 crashes.
