Follow-up Comment #11, bug #65030 (group octave):

Unfortunately not. This is one of those bugs were the code seems okay (and
works on other platforms) but does not give the expected result.

Maybe there are some message pointing into the right directions when you start
octave with the environment variable OCTAVE_SHOW_GUI_MESSAGES=1
