Follow-up Comment #4, bug#65066 (group octave):

This warning is probably benign (unless Cinnamon makes it worse) -- something
else is happening. 

A few things to try:

1) Install octave-8.4 from "testing" repo:

dnf --enablerepo=*testing* update octave


2) Try to login to Xorg (rather than wayland) and see if that helps. 

I am running vanilla Fedora 39 and I do not see the problem.
