Follow-up Comment #9:

It seems like the Octave maintainers are less inclined to add a function to
Octave that isn't part of Matlab's public documented interface. Despite being
very simple to implement, this utility function is not a documented public
function and may not be part of a Matlab installation with no add-on toolboxes
installed. Is there any further discussion to have or should we close this as
won't fix?
