Follow-up Comment #4, bug #42429 (project octave):
Confirmed that this still exists (2/5/19).
Running the code under Matlab,
f=ftp('ftp.gnu.org','anonymous','address@hidden')
cd(f,'/gnu/Licenses')
dir(f)
cd(f,'Licenses')
dir(f)
I get an error when trying to cd in to the non-existent directory 'Licenses',
and dir(f) does not produce a segfault.
That said, there are tons of ftp programs available and it is probably better
to use one of them, rather than Octave, for any serious work.
